SWOG Regional Representatives Still Neededthumb_new

The positions of Newsletter Writer and Workshop Coordinator have been filled and will be announced soon but we are still searching for Regional Representatives.

Regional Representatives (2 or 3 in total). We are looking for representatives that live in the following counties within the SWOG area - Brant, Bruce, Grey, Huron, Wellington, Perth, Haldimand and Waterloo. At this time we will not be adding a position for each county but will at a later date. The following counties, although within the SWOG area, have been excluded as Regional Representatives from the area are already on the executive - Elgin, Chatham/Kent, Middlesex, Oxford, Norfolk, Lambton. And we had a geocacher from Essex apply during this search, which we will also announce with the two other new Executive members.

The Regional Representative are executive positions and those that fill the above positions would become executive members and would be expected to follow the SWOG Bylaws. It is also expected that the new members would attend executive meetings on a regular basis, as outlined in the bylaws, although distance is understood to be a factor for the further away counties and special concessions, such as attending meetings electronically, can be made to accommodate.

Position Expectations Overview:

Regional Representatives (2 or 3 positions) – be knowledgeable of region’s current events pertaining to geocaching, encourage events to be held and/or host events within your area, help geocachers in your area as needed and attend SWOG executive meetings.

If you are interested, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Please, include the following information in that email:
1. your name
2. your geocaching name
3. the position that you are interested in
4. the county in which you live
5. your email and phone number
6. and feel free to tell us a bit about yourself.

Please be aware that this is not an election. The SWOG Executive will make selections on who they feel would be best to fulfill the positions and contact those chosen as soon as possible after the deadline date. Please only apply using the above email only.

Thanks!

Tillsonburg Turtlefest Geocaching

E-mail Print PDF

 thumb_event_72Tillsonburg Turtlefest  - Saturday, June 25, 2011

Come out of your shell on June 25 and join the fun at Tillsonburg's first Turtle Festival!

One of the activities included in the festival's agenda is Turtlefest Geocaching!

The geocache route will be primarily designed for beginners to provide an enjoyable geocache experience. For those participants who are experienced geocachers, it is suggested that you do the route first then head out again to find the rest of the geocaches in town.

All geocaches placed for the the festival will be "official geocaches" that will be published on geocaching.com. Some of the new geocaches placed for the event will include information cards about turtles found in Ontario. On these cards are letters that when unscrambled spell the name of the new Tillsonburg turtle mascot. Find the geocaches with the cards, fill in the answer sheet that you receive from the geocache display at the Station Arts Centre, and return it to the same display by 3:00pm for your chance to win the grand prize - the Turtlefest Treasure Chest! The draw will be held at 3:30pm!

The Turtlefest Geocaching starts at the Station Arts Centre (41 Bridge Street West - N42 51.729 W80 43.935) at 8:00am and goes throughout the day until 3:00pm when the completed sheets need to be submitted to enter the draw. Stop by the display table to pickup the coordinates and other information for the geocaches.

Brendah will be at the display throughout the day, if you have any questions or just want to chat.  And geocacher volunteers will be available to assist new cachers or anyone who has not geocached before. They will be your tour guide and help in the search!

It is not all done at this point... After a great day of geocaching in Tillsonburg, come to the Tillsonburg Turtlefest Feast event (no turtles are included in the feast) held at Le Chef Restaurant - 519 Broadway Street, Tillsonburg at 5:30pm. The restaurant provides a buffet style meal.

There are only 40 seats available so reserve your seat soon! Further information about the event or to log your "Will Attend" visit this link:
